Marta Gómez Frey

Servant leadership is a part of my DNA.  I learned volunteering and service from my parents, Hector and Myrta Gómez, who served as Hamilton Park Elementary School volunteers and found themselves “adopting” international families when they moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  The tradition of serving others continues through my sons, Alex and Noah as they volunteer with Network of Community Ministries (Richardson); they work with local nursing homes to provide musical entertainment to residents (The Plaza in Richardson);  they serve as Heritage Farm & Museum summer camp counselors; and, they work with Children’s Medical Center Red Balloon Ride. Serving is a family tradition.

My professional career has focused on leading others to succeed.  As the director of the Collin Small Business Development Center, on a daily basis, I connect successful small business owners to the resources that help them grow. Two years ago, I was appointed to the Richardson City Council, another opportunity to use my experience to help others.   My work, civic and volunteer activities have been about the same: helping individuals find empowerment through hard work and increased knowledge. I feel that I have accomplished this through a unique determination to connect people to the advancement of their goals.

Our family moved to Duck Creek in Richardson in March 1976 and I bought a house in Owens Park in 2005 to live with my sons, Alex and Noah. My brother Hector and I are proud Hamilton Park Pacesetters, Apollo Jr High Panthers and Berkner High School Rams.  Hector and his wife Byanka, live in North Dallas.
